Level cap increased, new stages, new items in Valkyrie Sky

Global game portal GameKiss and its shoot'em up MMO Valkyrie Sky announced it has raised the game's highest level from 50 to 60 and will be launching the new decorative item "Wings" suiting the game’s shooter genre in the sky.

Raising the level cap to Level 60 means a new region and stages will open. The new region being introduced is called Nastrond. Users who pass this region need to defeat a half-spider, half-insectivorous middle boss and the final boss, Ratapolnir at the final stage. All monsters in the Nastrond region will show aggressive and speedy attacks that have never been seen in other regions in Valkyrie Sky. Even users who are comfortable with the shoot'em up genre will experience a tough challenge.

Left: Aurimus Right: Ratapolnnir

While the Nastrond region provides users with tough challenges, the update introduces a costume item "Wings" which will boost users' morale and their game-play. Users have so far had wings that are in only one color, but after this update, users will be able to choose various beautiful wings that suit their taste. Users will now be able to express themselves in the sky.

Newly updated beautiful 'Wings' costume

This update isn't just for existing users. For those who found controlling difficult, a game pad functionality option has been newly added. Gamers with Level 10 or lower will also be able to enjoy the game without using up stamina through using magic skills. Other contents that can provide more convenient environments for both new and existing users will be included in this update.

More details about Valkyrie Sky's new update and items can be found at its website: http://valkyriesky.gamekiss.com.

Guild Wars

NCsoft Announces Novel Based on the Award-Winning Epic Fantasy Game Guild Wars®

NCsoft has announced Ghosts of Ascalon, the first novel based on the best-selling MMO game Guild Wars. Written by acclaimed authors Jeff Grubb and Matt Forbeck, Ghosts of Ascalon introduces readers to a fantasy world ravaged by war and chaos, and sets the stage for the release of the highly-anticipated sequel Guild Wars 2™.

Scheduled for release in North America and Europe in the summer of 2010, Ghosts of Ascalon takes place in the dangerous land of Tyria, the setting of Guild Wars. A mismatched band of adventurers, each plagued by ghosts from their pasts, journeys into the haunted, war-torn kingdom of Ascalon to retrieve a sacred relic that holds the promise of peace between humanity and their ancestral enemies, the savage charr. But not everyone wants peace, and the undead king who rules Ascalon won’t give it up easily!

In Guild Wars, one of the best-selling fantasy role-playing franchises of all time, players adventured through an epic storyline that spanned three continents or faced off against each other in head-to-head combat. Ghosts of Ascalon takes place in the same era as the upcoming Guild Wars 2, hundreds of years after the events of the original Guild Wars series. The sweeping storyline, richly imagined setting and dramatic characters will appeal to both fantasy readers and fans of Guild Wars alike.

TERA

'Making of' TERA MMORPG Movie Highlights Development

Bluehole Studio unveiled "making of" film for its highly anticipated and controversial Massively Multiplayer Role-Playing Game, TERA, in Korea before its 3rd Closed Beta Test. The film contains scenes of developing processes from concept arts, scenario, character creation to actual gameplay.  It looks like they excluded the part of development that showed the Watergate-Style tactics of obtaining the code from NCsoft.
TERA Character
TERA already secured its powerful publishing partners: it will be operated in Korea by NHN Hangame and in Japan by NHN Japan within the first half of 2010.

Bluehole Studio established a representative office in the United States of America and launched a teaser site (http://www.tera-online.com) in 2009 so it looks like they will self-publish the game in the USA.

Bluehole Studio spent 3 years and 32 billion Won (US$ 24 million) on developing TERA that matches with console game graphic quality and ground-breaking non-targeting gameplay system.

Basically Lineage 3, the game is ripe with great graphics and well designed combat.  This will probably be the highest quality free to play mmorpg ever released.

About Bluehole

Thus Bluehole Studio was born in March 2007 in Seoul, Korea, with a focused mission to develop premium MMORPG for audiences around the world. Over the last 2 years Bluehole has grown into a world class company, and it is partially owned by international venture capitals who share this bold vision, such as Altos Ventures (www.altosventures.com) based in Silicon Valley, California.
