Its Official, MapleStory Goes Mobile So what happens if you are addicted to Maple Story like millions of other gamers but you are not close to your computer? Well, play from your AT&T mobile phone of course. MMOs have been gaining momentum in the mobile device area and now Maple Story will be among one of the first Large MMOs to hit the new battlefront of online gaming. AT&T* made an announcement today that MapleStory© is now available for digital download from the AT&T Media Mall, AT&T's multimedia content store. AT&T is the first U.S. wireless carrier to launch the mobile version of MapleStory, which of course is the world's first 2D side-scrolling massively multiplayer online role-playing game and has over 92 million worldwide registered users.
Content will be very similar to the PC based version but the AT&T version of the mobile game also includes an added bonus. Players that download the MapleStory mobile game from AT&T will be able to claim a special item for their MapleStory PC game.
"MapleStory has a loyal global following, so we are thrilled to let AT&T customers be the first in the U.S. to experience that same adventure and level of excitement on their wireless devices," said Glenn Broderick, Executive Director, Gaming, AT&T.
"We're excited to deliver one of the largest MMORPG franchises in the world first to one of the largest carriers in the world. Combining subscribers from the PC and wireless will create a great synergy effect," said Kyu Lee, President of GAMEVIL USA, Inc.
So what will it cost to get the mobile version? If you already have ATT&T for your cellphone service, MapleStory will cost you $6.99 at the AT&T MEdia Mall - www.att.com/mediamall . Not bad considering how much ringtones and wallpapers cost.
