| MMOFury | For those that have not yet experienced GM wars, can you give a brief description of the events?

| Joseph Willmon | Sure! What GM Wars boil down to is massive PvP warfare culminating in a boss fight. What’s cool is that because GMs are all powerful, they’re almost like gods from the Greek pantheon. So they seek each other out and have this huge one on one right there in the middle of the battlefield, and they’re slinging earth-shattering spells, the weather’s changing, they’re spawning bosses to lay waste to the opposing army, and just dropping people in one hit. It’s a sight to see, and because they’re so tough there’s a real feeling of accomplishment when you take one down.

| MMOFury | What Character levels are these open to?

| Joseph Willmon | Anyone currently eligible for the wars can join, so basically levels 35 and up. Normally there’s a huge disparity between a level 35 and a level 80 on a PvP battlefield, but not to a GM. A GM can take down a level 80 just as easily as a 35, so it’s a lot more even than it seems. Considering it takes hardly any time to get a character up to level 35, it’s a really good way for new players to experience one of our best events.

| MMOFury | How will each server’s schedule vary?

| Joseph Willmon | We’re trying to avoid overlapping existing wars, so there’ll be a bit of variation which we’ll be posting on the homepage when it’s available.

| MMOFury | Last year’s GM wars were a huge success, what do these GM wars have in store compared to last year’s?

| Joseph Willmon | They were a big success! It’s a working formula and we’re excited to bring it back in the same great form.

| MMOFury | Last year’s GM’s had some great gear like Dragon Flight, can you give us a overview of what kind of gear we will see on the GM’s this year?

| Joseph Willmon | The GMs are no pushovers so they’ll be sporting some pretty unbelievable stuff. Dragonflight will of course make a triumphant return, but we may even throw in something extra.

| MMOFury | How do you think that gear will compare to the average high level player’s equipment?
|

| Joseph Willmon | The best geared players are running around in things like Chitin +9, and the GMs will be in +30. With the way the item upgrade system works, each advancement grants almost an exponential boost in power, you can imagine that the GMs are going to be nigh unstoppable.

| MMOFury | What accomplishments will be considered a victory for the opposing players?
|

| Joseph Willmon | Well, taking down the GMs of course goes without saying. But if and when bosses are spawned during these fights, each one of them defeated is a victory. Since the GMs are essentially fighting each other first and foremost, players with healing skills will be healing their own GM to keep victory out of the hands of the enemy, and there are tons of Nation Points up for grabs as these two huge armies slug it out.

| MMOFury | Killing a GM in these events can be profitable to say the least, what kinds of rewards are in store for GM Wars 2008 as a whole?

| Joseph Willmon | GMs carry 2.1 Billion Noah (Knight Online’s in-game currency) on their person when they fight in GM Wars. Each time they’re defeated half of this amount drops. The more a nation defeats the enemy GM, the richer they become!

| MMOFury | Of the 7 primary events, which ones are considered the top 3?

| Joseph Willmon | Actually, all of the events are meant to be similar in scope so that all players can experience the fun of GM Wars.

| MMOFury | Tell us a little about the Hellsgarem PVP Event, when it will occur, How long will it take, what levels are able to participate, and what kind of equipment will be allowed?
|

| Joseph Willmon | Hellsgarem is a special server we open for 24 hours on the third Saturday of every month. It’s a full PvP server with standardized levels and equipment, and we disable the magic anvil item upgrade system, so it’s a completely even playing field. Players from all other servers can join Hellsgarem, providing a unique common battleground for people who wouldn’t normally get to see each other. We also run five contests each time Hellsgarem opens: Most Nation Points earned by an individual, Most Nation Points earned by a clan, Best Screenshot, Best Video, and Most Popular Video. For those who want to get in on the action, the next Hellsgarem PvP Event server will open at midnight on June 21st and registration will open 3 days before in the Power Up Store. Just click the registration button and you are ready to go!

| MMOFury | Which event is the most “Clan Friendly”?

| Joseph Willmon | Because Knight Online boasts a pretty unique and robust clan ranking system, all events are actually designed with clans in mind. Hellsgarem, for instance, actually encourages clans to work together because if they do, they can win the “Most Nation points earned by a clan contest,” and get prizes in-game and in real life. GM Wars, on the other hand, provide an outlet for clans to gather all the Nation and clan points they need in order to upgrade their clan level and gain things like cloaks and symbols. We also have an event specifically designed with clans in mind called Castle Siege War. Here, clans and their alliances battle for control of a castle, which carries with it a host of benefits such as gaining money from taxes and controlling access to a special dungeon with unique items and bosses.

| MMOFury | How will the Border defense wars be set up, and what will the rewards be?

| Joseph Willmon | There are NPCs in both nations’ capital cities with whom the players need to sign up. Once the war starts, groups of 8 players from each nation are teleported into the Border Defense War zone. Once there, your team has 50 minutes to destroy the enemy monument and the center monument while at the same time defending your own—this is a lot tougher than it sounds! Whoever manages to pull it off gets a whole heap of experience and an item called a Red Treasure Chest, which can be turned in for a chance at unique items.

| MMOFury | What are the prerequisites for Castle Siege War Events?

| Joseph Willmon | To participate in Castle Siege War, you must be either a member of a clan ranked 3 or higher (a clan ranking of 1 is the highest), OR the member of a clan of rank 4 that is allied with a clan ranked 3 or higher.

| MMOFury | What kind of Siege Weapons will we see in the Siege Wars?

| Joseph Willmon | Foremost is the catapult, a wicked looking siege weapon made with bones and armor that has a huge chamber on the back for firing flaming cannon balls long distances. Then there’s a ram used for slamming through the castle gate and a Leader Car, a vehicle that casts defensive magic over a certain area of the allied team and can only be driven by the leading member of the attacking forces. My personal favorite, however, is the Ladder Truck; it carries a huge ramp right up to the castle walls. Once deployed, attackers can scale the ramp and leap into the fray inside the castle courtyard. All vehicles, of course, can be destroyed, necessitating decisive strategy by both parties to be successful.

| MMOFury | How will these battles be organized, what do players need to do to participate?

| Joseph Willmon | To participate, players need only head into the land of Delos when the war is set to begin. At one end the attacking team enters, and on the other end is the castle. How these battles are organized is left entirely up to the leaders of each respective side. To denote these leaders, the highest ranking officials of the top-rated clans are chosen to be commanders. Commanders wield fearsome pikes and sit atop war steeds to facilitate troop movements during the battle, and gain the ability to broadcast messages to their entire force.

| MMOFury | Can you disclose what key areas will host the most battles?

| Joseph Willmon | There are specific objectives in each of our PvP wars. Many of them center around capturing or destroying a powerful monument, so much of the fiercest fighting occurs around these.

| Joseph Willmon | Just a reminder that these events run each week—with the exception of Hellsgarem, which runs every month—so there are constantly chances to engage in what players describe as the “best PvP ever.” There are all kinds of cool strategies that have developed in Knight Online involving actual player skill that just blow away the usual “Click target, use skill,” method you usually find in MMORPGs. Also, we’ve got some great stuff coming down the pipe this summer so make sure to keep your eye on the site.
